The Original Milltown
This is a historical site, which will attempt to preserve a very important part of Glossop, which is under threat by developers in cahoots with the High peak Borough Council to call the Howardtown development "Milltown". Neither of whom seems to accept that this will cause postal confusion and further traffic chaos.

This Photograph taken in the 1950's shows Milltown before the Council demolished the terraced cottages, and broke up the community that lived there.

In Glossop there are six areas called town to the best of my knowledge.
These are
1) Milltown, 2) Charles Town,3) Lean Town, 4) Free Town, 5) Rough Town, and 6) Howard Town.
Of course if you know of any more let me know.
Anybody remember "Jerry Town" the 7th in Glossop, on Gladstone street in the area at the end of Wood Street and the entrance to the St Mary's school area. Thanks to P.Lawton for this info.
The Howard Town Mill , now called "The Mill" by the developers was originally called "The Commercial Mill"
